For over three decades, Jensen Custom Builders has designed and built high-end custom homes across South Puget Sound's waterfront and view communities. From sweeping waterfront properties to elevated view lots to classic custom builds, every project is guided by the same standard: uncompromising craftsmanship and close collaboration with our clients. Founded on decades of hard-won expertise in the region's most demanding building conditions, the company today is guided by a hands-on, multi-generational team — with the next generation now leading day-to-day project management, ensuring close, on-site attention from start to finish.

Our story

Jensen Custom Builders begins with a house on a bluff in Federal Way's Marine Hills neighborhood — the home Terry Jensen's father, a carpenter himself, built for their family, and which still stands today. Growing up in a home built by his own father's hands, in a neighborhood defined by its views of the Puget Sound, gave Terry both a trade and a place he understood better than anyone. Over three decades, he built that early foundation into a company known for its work on the region's most demanding waterfront and view lots.

Five years ago, that legacy found its next chapter. Ryan and Jacque moved back to Washington from Austin, Texas, to join the family business — Ryan bringing 15 years of construction experience from the commercial sector, now leading day-to-day, on-site project management, and Jacque bringing an entrepreneurial background from Washington State University to guide the company's operations. Today, Terry remains an active part of the business he built, working alongside the next generation to carry it forward.

Meet the Team

Terry Jensen — Founder

Terry grew up in Federal Way's Marine Hills neighborhood, in a home his own father — a carpenter — built by hand. That early connection to craftsmanship and to the region's waterfront communities set the course for his career. Over three decades, Terry built Jensen Custom Builders into a trusted name for high-end waterfront and view-lot construction throughout South Puget Sound. Today, he remains an active part of the business, working alongside the next generation to carry that standard forward.

Ryan Englehart — Superintendent

Raised in Des Moines, Washington — right in the same Puget Sound communities Jensen Custom Builders serves — Ryan brings 15 years of construction experience, built in the commercial sector, to every project. After moving back to Washington from Austin, Texas, he joined the family business, where he now leads day-to-day, on-site project management, making sure every build runs to the same standard of craftsmanship the company was founded on, from first framing to final walkthrough.

Jacque Jensen — Brand & Operations

Jacque's earliest memories of the business are from her father's job sites — tagging along to meet subcontractors, and spending evenings with him reviewing blueprints together, just for the joy of it. That early front-row seat shaped a lasting connection to the family business. A graduate of Washington State University with a background in entrepreneurship, she moved back to Washington from Austin, Texas, to help guide the next chapter of Jensen Custom Builders — leading brand and operations, and bringing a builder's legacy into a modern, professional presence.
